TWO men who stole goods from a delivery firm’s distribution centre have been ordered to pay up hundreds of pounds and carry out community service by a court.
Kieran Battersby, from Leigh, and Kinley Johnson, from St Helens, pinched the items from the Hermes hub on Mill Lane in Winwick last month.
The pair appeared for sentence before Warrington Magistrates Court on Thursday, November 25.
Johnson, of Glamorgan Close in St Helens, was fined £120 and told to pay court costs of £85 and a £34 victim surcharge after admitted theft – the 47-year-old having stolen ‘various items’ from the site.
Battersby, of Coronation Drive in Leigh, failed to appear and a warrant for his arrest was issued.
The 26-year-old, a worker who stole a bottle of aftershave from the depot, was subsequently detained and belatedly appeared in court the following day.
He was told to complete 40 hours of unpaid works after admitting theft by employee, possession of cannabis and failing to surrender to bail.
Magistrates also told him to pay a £95 victim surcharge, £85 in court costs and compensation of £30.
Forfeiture and destruction of the drugs was also ordered.
