A COLLEGE student has been praised after coming to the rescue to a child who had been hit by a car.

Sean Bradbury, from Leigh, was on his way home from college when he witnessed the incident.

Displaying a great deal of courage and quick-thinking, the 18-year-old stayed with the injured youngster for over two hours – keeping them still, providing warm blankets and offering reassurance.

While Sean, a Warrington and Vale Royal College student, was at the scene, the attending ambulance was also involved in an accident but Sean remained calm and continued to offer comfort to the youngster.

Sean’s tutor, Andy Bramhall, said: “This is an exemplary display of behaviour from a Warrington and Vale Royal College student.

“Sean’s actions have shown a real dedication to the local community.”

His mother, Karen Ramsden, added: ““I am very proud of Sean for helping and staying with the patient until the ambulance arrived.

“He stayed calm and caring throughout the incident and kept the patient talking and distracted.”

Public Services student Sean also volunteers for PrimeCare Ambulance Services, a company providing mobile units, medical assistance and patient transport.

Sean was also chosen to become a college Student Ambassador, an important role which involves attending college-wide events and assisting staff.

Warrington and Vale Royal College is incredibly proud of Sean’s actions and would like to congratulate him on his ‘outstanding conduct during such a serious situation’.
