A FORMER decathlete and tennis champion are amazed at their daughters sporting accomplishments at such a young age.

12-year-old Bethany Pendlebury has been impressing her coaches and parents of late as she has won gold, silver and bronze in shot put, discuss, and javelin competitions, as well as being ranked as the 7th best shot putter for her age across the country by British Athletics.

In addition to this, the Bedford High student has also been selected for Manchester Thunder regional netball team - a professional club whose first team compete in the UK Superleague.

Accomplishing all of this while also excelling at school, her parents have been blown away by her skill, commitment and ability to juggle everything successfully.

Mark, a former shot putter and decathlete - who won silver at the UK Masters Championships - said his daughter is a "natural" athlete, who is now working on developing her technique across the sports.

Mark added that his daughter is also a really good swimmer, member of Horwich Harriers Athletics club, Rivington A and B netball team, and captain of the school netball team - with her sporting focus currently on shot put and netball.

With Bethany's mum a former regional tennis champion, Mark explained that the sporting couple are really proud of Bethany and are helping with her training and development.

Mark said: "Bethany's doing really well and she's loving it at the minute.

"She's in top sets at school and doing excellent there too, so she's able to balance it all and concentrate on the two sports and school work."

With his experience of shot putting, Mark explained that this is a sport they can work on and do together as a family.

However, he added: "She's going to be better than me [...] she's going to be special."

"Me and her mum just want to give her everything that we didn't have as a kid."
