A new and “exhilarating” experience is coming to Blackpool Pleasure Beach and participants will be able to experience an extended version of Walk The Big One.

Participants will be taken to places “the public has never been before” in this new and in-depth walk up the 235ft rollercoaster.

In Walk The Big One XL, participants will be taken to two “new, exciting and different locations” that have never been accessed by the public before.

You will also be able to scale the main pull-up of the ride where you will walk to the very top of the Big One.

The experience ends with a chance to buy any of the exclusive Walk The Big One and Walk the Big One XL merchandise.

Throughout the experience you get you enjoy spectacular views of the ride, the park and the sea – if you can stomach the dizzying heights!

Walk The Big One XL will be run by members of Blackpool Pleasure Beach’s ride operations team who will guide guests through the experience, share fascinating facts and stories about the ride, and also share a few interesting tales about their time working with the famous ride.

Speaking about Walk The Big One XL, Andy Hygate, Blackpool Pleasure Beach’s Director of Operations comments, “The original Walk The Big One and Walk The Woodie events have been hugely successful so we wanted to develop a new experience to build on these and offer something completely new. 

“Walk The Big One XL will take our guests to parts of the ride they will never have been to before, and experience unique views of the ride and surrounding areas.  Having tried the walk myself, I can definitely say that it’s something that all fans of Blackpool Pleasure Beach will love to take part in.”

Fans of the Big One took to social media to discuss the new experience.

One person said: “I love that ride… I don’t think I could walk up it though”

 “I don’t think I could do this,” said another.

A third Twitter user said: “If it was cheaper I’d do it in a heart beat”

How to get tickets

The entire experience will last around 90 minutes is priced at £150 per person.

Participants must be 12 or over and sensible shoes or boots with a good grip must be worn.

Walk The Big One XL will be taking place on various dates between April and June – but spaces are limited so make sure to book your spot quickly.

The event is also weather dependent as wet, windy and storm conditions may lead to cancellation or postponement.

When does Blackpool Pleasure Beach reopen?

Blackpool Pleasure Beach re-opens in 2022 for White Knuckle Weekends from Saturday 12th February until Sunday 27th March.

Guests can shake off their winter blues and enjoy seven weekends of fun and excitement throughout February and March.
 
The world’s most ride-intensive amusement park, renowned for providing an adrenaline-fuelled adventure, is always ahead of the game when it comes to thrills. Guests can travel 235ft into the air before descending at breathtaking speeds on the UK’s tallest rollercoaster, the Big One then check out the twists, turns and acceleration of ICON, the UK’s first and only double launch coaster. 

In total the park has 10 amazing rollercoasters and there really is something for everyone.

If guests prefer things a little more sedate, they can enjoy the River Caves, Alice in Wonderland and the world’s first Wallace & Gromit ride, Thrill-O-Matic.
 
Younger guests can join the fun down at Nickelodeon Land and meet all their favourite Nickelodeon characters. Meet and greet with SpongeBob and PAW Patrol, take a spin on SpongeBob’s Splash Bash or ride on the Bikini Bottom Bus Tour then browse around the UK’s only Nick shop and pick up some fabulous Nickelodeon goodies!
