MEMBERS of the rugby league family have paid tribute to former Leigh legend Des Drummond after his death, aged just 63.

News of his sad passing emerged this afternoon, Saturday, less than an hour before the start of Warrington, another of his former sideโ€™s, pre-season game against Wigan.

The Jamaica-born winger played for Leigh for 10 seasons, winning the Championship in 1981-82.

During his illustrious career spanning 21 years, he also played for Western Suburbs, Workington Town, Chorley Chieftans, Prescot Panthers and Barrow.

Fans of the sport, former players and organisations have been leaving their tributes on social media.
