AN inmate who fled Thorn Cross prison has been handed further jail time.
Kurt Walmsley was serving a stretch in the Appleton Thorn jail in March this year when he absconded.
The 31-year-old was previously locked up in August 2020 after a 15-minute car chase with police, during which he sped at 90mph in a 30mph zone and drove on the wrong side of the road as well as running five red lights.
He has conviction for around 50 previous offences, many for driving matters, and has repeatedly flouted bans from the roads.
Walmsley, of no fixed address but from Leigh, admitted escaping from lawful custody at Chester Crown Court – sitting at Chester Magistrates Court – on Tuesday, April 26.
He was given a further eight months behind bars by judge Patrick Thompson.
