THE Leigh Rotary Club took up an invitation from the organisers of a weekend of celebrations by erecting their gazebo at Leigh Rugby Union Club for a fund raiser last Friday to assist the people of Ukraine with the purchase of medical equipment for the hospitals where hundreds of innocent civilians await treatment.

The Rotary Fund Raising Team had a couple of games available on the day and they also held a raffle, with tickets selling well and the draw taking place at 4pm.

Former Rotary President Frank Bowker made the draw, his wife Dorothy Bowker had, the previous day, been awarded a British Empire Medal in the Queens Birthday Honours for service to her Charity work with disadvantaged people in the community.

Many people bought tickets but had left the 'Fun Day' field before the draw was made. The winning tickets are as follows.
