Head coach Michael Beale will have Chris Willock and Luke Amos back available when Queens Park Rangers welcome Middlesbrough for their first home game of the season on Saturday.

Beale thought he would have Willock at his disposal in last week's 1-0 defeat at Blackburn Rovers after the 24-year-old had resumed training following his recovery from the torn hamstring he suffered at Nottingham Forest that had kept him out since March.

Illness then delayed his return for a week, but both he and Amos coming back into the fold is a big boost for Beale, who admitted QPR had looked “toothless” in attack during their season opener.

Beale said: “Chris is back, although we have to be sensible with him as it was his first serious injury and he has not had a pre-season.

“I was told on my first day in the job he won’t make the first game of the season, but it got to Thursday of last week and he would have made the squad for Blackburn for maybe 30 minutes or so.

“But he had a sickness bug and I was mindful that we were already light on players so I didn’t want it to spread, so he was robbed really.

“But unless something presents itself in the next 48 hours, he is ready to go."

Although he had recently returned to training, last Saturday's match at Ewood Park came too soon for Amos, who had to sit out the Hoops’ pre-season friendlies due to a hamstring strain.

“Luke is fine for Saturday and that is a real boost for us,” Beale said.

“He played for 45 minutes in the B team last week as he hadn’t played any minutes in pre-season, so the view was to get him two or three tough days and see how he recovers.

“But he looks in great shape and I am looking forward to him being involved this weekend.”

Beale will also make a late decision whether to include Tyler Roberts in his squad for the visit of Chris Wilder’s ‘Boro after the Leeds loanee missed the trip to Blackburn with a thigh injury.

Wales international Roberts suffered the problem during the R’s pre-season friendly against Crawley Town just under a month ago but returned to training earlier this week.

Tyler had his first full session with the group on Tuesday as he has been away on his own working on his own fitness for the last seven days,” Beale said.

“Tyler I will make a decision on, and if it’s not Saturday he will be back for Charlton next Tuesday.”

It is set to be a big day at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium regardless of the result against Middlesbrough.

Chloe Kelly, the scorer of England’s winning goal against Germany in the Women’s Euros final and lifelong QPR fan, will be presenting the ball before kick-off and conducting a Q&A during half-time.

Meanwhile, the renamed Stanley Bowles Stand will be officially opened by the Hoops legend’s family at its main entrance on Ellerslie Road 90 minutes before the game.
