HUNDREDS of families have been loving the fun at Spinning Gate Shopping Centre's Summer Street Party.

The Leigh Town Centre venue has organised a three week event to provide free entertainment for families.

And it has been hugely popular in its first week with hundreds of families visiting, relaxing and making memories.

The street party is on the mall, near to Costa Coffee and includes festoon lighting, white picket fencing, artificial grass, mini picnic benches and mini bean bags for the little ones to enjoy.

The Street Party staff invite families to join in the daily events which include garden games such as connect 4, dominoes, jenga, noughts & crosses & hopscotch.

There is lots of crafty colouring fun, puzzles, & quizzes too.

One shopper, Abbie Dolling from Leigh, said "Lovely staff. Fun, free activities.

My girls come to all your free events & they love it. Events such as this provide a little break from shopping & lets kiddies relax & enjoy."

Another mum, Trish Prescott said its "a happy place for children to play, colour & listen to story time".

Spinning Gate Centre Manager Karen Cox, said: "It's an absolute joy to see families relaxing, having fun and making memories at our Summer Street Party, whether they are colouring, listening to our story telling sessions, enjoying our games or just chilling.

"We have received some incredible feedback from families who have all said what a wonderful thing we are doing for our local community free of charge as costs for most things are increasing.

"We look forward to the next two weeks & welcome everyone to join us for more free family fun at Spinning Gate Shopping Centre."

To visit the summer street party, all children must be accompanied by an adult.

Spinning Gate which has 39 stores within 110,000sq ft of retail space in Leigh Town Centre, runs in parallel with the high street Bradshawgate and Spinning Jenny Way.

The centre is open Monday - Saturday: 9am - 5.30pm and Sundays 10am - 4pm.
