At around 9.20pm, police were called to Winwick Lane, near Lowton, following reports of a collision involving a grey Mercedes C350 and a black Yamaha motorcycle.

The driver of the motorcycle, a 41-year-old man from Warrington, was taken to hospital with serious injuries

Cheshire Police says he remains in hospital at this time, with his condition being described as ‘life changing’.

The driver of the Mercedes, a 44-year-old man from Ellesmere Port, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

Officers are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward.

Sergeant Andrew Dennison said: “This is a busy stretch of road, and I know that even at this time of night, motorists would have been using it.

“We have a number of enquiries underway, and as part of those we are urging anyone who has any dashcam or CCTV footage that could assist us from the area around the time of the collision, and has not yet done so, to please get in touch.

“The same goes to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or the vehicles around the time of the incident.
