A PRIMARY school teacher completed the National Three Peaks challenge in honour of his sister and her battle with cancer.

In October 2022, Sarah Roberts was given the devastating news that she had been diagnosed with bowel cancer, aged 47.

After seeing her strength in recovery and how her family rallied around to support her, Kevin Miller wanted to do something out of the ordinary to show his support and raise awareness of her fight and the condition.

Working alongside fundraisers at 'Charity Challenge', where participants raise money for a range of different causes, Kevin set on climbing the UK's three tallest mountains on Saturday, July 22.

Aiming to reach the summit of Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, and Mount Snowdon in under 24 hours, the Leigh St Johns teacher completed the challenge in an impressive 23 hours and 32 minutes.

Kevin said: "It was an amazing experience to climb all three peaks and although it was really difficult, I really enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone.

"The hardest part was probably the travelling between the mountains as you can't get much rest, but I'd do it again in a heartbeat to show that Sarah never walked alone in her battle.

"I saw the effect that the diagnosis had on Sarah and her family, which is why I wanted to do something special, but to see her strength and willingness to raise awareness made me really proud."

With many people getting in contact with Sarah since her diagnosis and Kevin's fundraiser, the PE teacher said that it has been a humbling experience to see such support from people across the community.

Raising a huge £1460 for Bowel Cancer UK following his Three Peak challenge, Kevin said that he has been "blown away" by the support and generosity.
