THE council has issued parking advice to spectators attending tonight's sold-out 'Battle of the Borough' at the Leigh Sports Village.

Leigh Leopards host Wigan Warriors in tonight's clash in the final round of the Super League regular season.

Leigh are looking to keep their grip on fourth place for a home play-off tie as they face their League Leaders' Shield-hunting neighbours.

With parking at the LSV expected to fill up quickly, the council has provided a list of car parks in the town centre people can use.

The local authority urged people not to park illegally in nearby streets and warned offenders could be fined.

In a statement, Wigan Council said: "Huge game at the LSV tonight with lots on the line for both our local Super League teams

"Best of luck to both Leigh Leopards and Wigan Warriors and we hope it's a great game!

"If you’re going to the game, remember to plan your travel.

"Parking at the LSV fills up quickly, but there are lots of other options including:

"Car parks in Leigh town centre, including Town Hall, Doctors Nook, Church St, Lord St, and Spinning Gate

"Hop on the bus to Leigh Bus Station

"Stroll down from home or public transport, with high-quality walking and cycling paths around the LSV

"Please do not park illegally on nearby streets. It causes issues for local residents, could prevent an emergency vehicle getting through, and you can be fined."
