A ONE man record shop has been growing ever more eclectic as it attracts musos from across the North West to Leigh.

With a former record store at Pembroke Hall Indoor Market in Walkden, Brandan Nolan launched 'Sticky Black Tarmac' from Leigh Spinners Mill in March after a search to grow his business in a larger unit.

Nestled in a creative hub of independent businesses that is also a "good catchment area", Brandan previously told the Journal that he felt the move was the "perfect fit".

Securing a spacious site at an affordable rent, Brandan said that business has been positive after his first seven months in the mill.

Brandan, from Boothstown, said: "Things have been going well because I still have customers from Walkden coming to see me as well as a lot of people from Leigh, and then from places like Wigan, Warrington, and Salford too.

"It's a lot more spacious here compared to my market stall so people have the space to look around and put a record on or mix on the desks if they want to.

"I have the benefit of not paying high street rents so I try to offer lower prices and provide a real variety of new music and different genres."

Highlighting the creative relationships between tenants in the mill, one of the artists, Lisa Michelle, has designed a unique unit front for Brandan and Sticky Black Tarmac, which is named after the look of vinyl records.

With a passion for music, Brandan said he will continue searching for new releases and hidden gems to fill up his collection, with further plans to extend his Spinners Mill space with a listening room.
