FATHER Christmas is getting ready for his annual tour of streets in Leigh and Lowton.

He has already asked if Leigh Rotary members can help him out by towing the Sleigh around the streets of Leigh & Lowton, like they do every year.

Rotary President Frank Bowker told Leigh Journal: "Our members have been busy getting the Sleigh ready for action from November 26.

"We ask everyone to carefully check the latest routes in the Journal as we have to make changes to the streets we visit each year.

"Unfortunately, we will not be able to have children on the Sleigh, but they are welcome to stand next to it for photos.

"If any adults would like to help with the Santa collections on the street routes or at Superstores, please email leighrotaryclub@gmail.com”

The list below shows the general areas that Santa will visit from 6pm, but a detailed list of every street that Santa is visiting, will shortly appear on the Rotary website www.leigh.rotary1285.org and on Facebook.

  • Monday, December 4: Town Centre - Orchard Lane to Railway Road area
  • Tuesday, Dec 5: Lowton – St Helens Road areas
  • Wednesday, Dec 6: Chapel Street and Manchester Road areas
  • Thursday, Dec 7: Pennington South
  • Friday, Dec 8: Higher Folds to Kenhall Road
  • Saturday, Dec 9: Cameron Street, Wordsworth and Keats from 4.15pm
  • Monday, Dec 11: Sydney Avenue and Hayman Avenue Estate
  • Tuesday, Dec 12: Lowton - Newton Road areas
  • Wednesday, Dec 13: Firs Lane East and Wigan Road Lower areas
  • Thursday, Dec 14: Pennington North – Bonnywell Rd/ Diamond St
  • Friday, Dec 15: Westleigh – Abbey La. & Westbourne Ave areas
  • Monday, Dec 18: Warrington Road areas
  • Tuesday, Dec 19: The Avenue & Holden Road‬ areas

Santa’s Sleigh will also be at Superstores on the following days from from 10am to 4pm: -

  • Bents:           Sunday, November 26, and Sunday Dec 3 (Sleigh, but no Santa)
  • Tesco:           Sunday, December 10, Fri 22 & Sun 23;
  • Morrisons: Saturday, December 16.
