A WOMAN has been named Businesswoman of the Year after switching careers from the Army to the homecare industry.

After serving her country for eight years and meeting her future husband in the Army, Georgia Pennington wanted a change of direction and a way to help the local community.

With Georgia's husband Tom gaining a role at Home Instead's Warrington office once he left the forces, the pair felt that expanding this into Leigh was a perfect opportunity.

With the company providing thousands of hours of home care to aging residents, Georgia and Tom launched Home Instead Leigh in February 2020.

Launching at a time when Georgia was pregnant and weeks before the first covid lockdown, it was a challenging first few months for the business but the couple continued to work to grow their reputation and develop relationships with clients, charities, organisations, and council.

With a commitment to provide the best home care for the elderly around Leigh, Lowton, Golborne, and Atherton, Home Instead has been recognised for making a difference in the community and creating a rewarding and supportive environment for employees.

Nominated at last year's Greater Manchester Business Awards, Georgia was named 'Businesswoman of the Year' for her hard work and dedication to the local community.

Commenting on her big win, Georgia said, “I’m so proud of how far Home Instead Leigh has come since we started in lockdown. It’s an honour to be named Businesswoman of the Year at the Greater Manchester Business Awards. What a way to finish another great year!

“These past three years have taught me that every single person deserves the best care possible, and that is what I have done.”

“Though the award is a celebration of my hard work and dedication over the years, it goes without saying that none of this would be possible without the support from my partner Tom, and of course the whole team at Home Instead Leigh - thank you for all that you do.”
