PLANS have been submitted to construct a seven bedroom House of Multiple Occupation (HMO) in Leigh.
On behalf of applicant Jonathan Unsworth, Space Architectural has submitted a planning application regarding a proposed HMO on Smallbrook Lane.
The proposals would build a semi-detached house in a space that currently lies empty between two neighbouring properties, and has become overgrown in recent years.
Another property formerly occupied some of this space before it was demolished more than ten years ago.

At present, planning permission is only required to convert residential properties into HMOs if they will house 7 or more people, or if it is a commercial property that is being converted rather than a residential home.
HMO's can make an important contribution to housing needs and help tenants find an affordable property, although they are often controversial due to concerns over noise and anti-social behaviour due to more people living in a confined area.
Information on Wigan Council's planning portal proposes that the newbuild terrace will be constructed of similar brick and tiles, if approved by the council's planning committee.
Recycled waste would be stored in separate bins to the rear, and collected via an access path to the side of the property. There would only be one space for vehicle parking.
