The Bowling Green pub attracting new customers for decades

Run by the Fairhurst family for the past 30 years, the Bowling Green's welcoming atmosphere, food focus, and varied offer has enabled it to create and maintain a popular reputation in Leigh.

Despite the various challenges in the hospitality industry in recent years, the Manchester Road boozer has weathered many of these storms and due to its offer a has thrived in recent years.

A tapas special platter at The Bowling Green (Image: The Bowling Green) With a commitment to high quality food, its main area is mainly reserved for diners, with a delicious selection of hearty pub meals such as fish and chips, burgers, and roast dinners, as well as further options like steaks, kebabs, dirty fries, and curries. There are also special offers, platters, and set menus for special occassions.

This dining space mixes with the pub's side room which accommodates those wanting to watch live sports or have a game of pool or darts, while the large beer garden is a huge boost during the summer months.

The pub also benefits from its bingo, quiz, and live music nights, which helps to create a vibrant atmosphere, and attract more customers towards the Manchester Road pub.

The pub's separate sports rooms (Image: Leigh Journal) Speaking about how the business has fared in recent years, manager Danny Johnson said: "We have had a really good couple of years here, to be honest.

"We were quite fortunate after covid that we had enough space with the restrictions, and thankfully all our customers came back to us.

"I think our food focus and separate sports room attracts different groups but has given us a really loyal local base, and we're still attracting new customers all the time."

The Bowling Green is open from Monday to Sunday from 12pm.
