THE Met Office has issued weather warnings for snow across much of the UK as Storm Goretti inches closer to Britain.

Yellow weather warnings have been issued across the UK, including Greater Manchester.

The issue comes into place at 5pm this evening, Thursday, until midday tomorrow, Friday.

Storm Goretti follows last week's cold snap where many schools across the country were forced to close due to icy conditions and problems with heating.

The Met Office has warned that areas affected by the storm may experience travel disruption, such as road and rail delays and rail cancellations.

Power cuts have said to also be likely in rural areas, as well as disruption to mobile phone networks.
