LEIGH's Spinning Gate Shopping centre has been celebrating a prosperous 2025, which saw the venue welcome three million shoppers.
The centre saw an influx of shoppers, with almost 300,000 visiting over the Christmas period. Families from around the borough attended the festive events taking place at Spinning Gate, such as Santa visits, and festive entertainment from Buddy the Elf, The Grinch and Elf on the Shelf.
The 12 days of Christmas goodie bag giveaway was popular among shoppers, whilst a team of volunteers offered a gift wrapping services, inviting donations for local charity Compassion in Action.
The shopping centre welcomed new business in 2025, with My Dentist joining in the summer marking a 'substantial enhancement' for the thousands of patients in Leigh.
During the past year, the centre also received its 8th consecutive Green Apple Award for Environmental Best Practice, following an increase in its recycling initiatives, minimising its utility consumption and minimising the centres waste volume.
The centre recently introduced a school uniform recycling scheme in conjunction with Aim Northwest and The Uniformity Project enabling families in the area to drop off used school uniforms to be reused by other families in the area.
Karen Cox, Centre Manager of Spinning Gate Shopping Centre said: "Spinning Gate is outperforming centres of a similar size with increased footfall and high occupancy levels. We have a loyal customer base who regularly repeat visit in our stores.
"As a thank you to our shoppers, all our centre events and entertainment are provided free as a way of giving back for shopping and supporting local with us. Throughout the year, thousands of families have enjoyed our regular program of events, attractions, and giveaways.
"Starting at the beginning of the year with our Valentines Day chocolate giveaways, Mother’s Day competition giving away a hotel stay treat for a well-deserved mum, Easter egg giveaways over Easter, Father’s Day goodie bag giveaways, our ever popular hide and seek with children’s books during the summer, our trick or treat giveaways at Halloween, our free Santa visits and family entertainment at Christmas, we provide a regular program of free attractions for families of all ages.
