A LIMITED-edition Matilda-inspired menu is bringing a touch of childhood magic to pub menus.

Marston’s is launching the themed menu, created in partnership with The Roald Dahl Story Company and Quentin Blake, in more than 450 pubs across the UK for February half-term and the Easter holidays.

Dishes include Miss Trunchbull’s Mighty Meatballs, Matilda’s Mischievous Munch Box, Miss Honey’s Honeycomb Ice Cream, and, for adults, Bruce Bogtrotter’s Chocolate Cake Sharer.

The special menu is available at 353 of the participating pubs, with the dessert also offered at an additional 112 pubs.

Kids can return and dine for just £1 with a voucher included in the Munch Box.

Claire Robertson, Director of Operations for the South from Marston’s, said: "Families all over the UK are making memories at their locals but we want to add a sprinkle of magic and mischief to their visits over the upcoming school holidays and beyond.

"We’ve partnered with The Roald Dahl Story Company, to recreate iconic dishes such as the Bruce Bogtrotter’s Chocolate Cake Sharer and introduce Miss Trunchbull’s Mighty Meatballs and Matilda’s Mischievous Munch Box, to give our big and little visitors something new, exciting and nostalgic to try.

"We’re proud to be sharing our love of such a special story with our guests and to encourage them to experience Matilda with a side of mischief."

In Greater Manchester, the Kids Menu & Dessert Sharer are available at Talbot in Atherton and Whistling Wren in Leigh.

To mark the launch, Marston’s is running a competition to win tickets to the 30th anniversary screening of Matilda at the Royal Albert Hall.

Guests can enter by sharing a photo of themselves enjoying the Bruce Bogtrotter cake on social media between February 17 and April 19, tagging their pub and using #MarstonsBruceBogtrotterCake.

Marston’s has also announced a programme of themed events running from February to April.

Matilda’s Marvellous Party will take place on February 20 and 21, with more events on April 10 and 11.

A special after-school party will be held on March 6, where children can eat for £1.

Over Easter weekend, pubs will host Matilda’s Marvellous Easter Hunt, where children will search for letters to spell out a Matilda-themed word.

The menu is available until April 19.
