THE Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for snow across Greater Manchester, with wintry conditions expected overnight in Leigh.

The warning came into place at 4pm this afternoon, Wednesday, February 18 until 6am tomorrow morning, Thursday, February 19.

The full Met Office forecast read: "There is potential for rain, sleet and snow to affect parts of Wales, central England and the southern Pennines from Wednesday evening into early Thursday.

"Snowfall of 2-5 cm is likely above 150-200 metres, with 10-15 cm possible above 250-300 metres across mid and southeast Wales, as well as Herefordshire, Shropshire and the southern Pennines. Small amounts, generally less than 2 cm, may fall at lower levels."

Experts have warned that weather conditions across the region may cause slight travel delays due to potential traffic disruption, as well as a chance that power cuts may occur, with mobile networks also impacted in affected areas.
