A MAN who recently underwent cancer surgery is appealing to residents to assist him in the search for his beloved, missing cat.

Darren Conboy, from Wigan, was recovering from a recent cancer surgery when his cat, Cora went missing.

Cora is described as a six-year-old white, brown and black tabby cat. She is timid but may respond to her name or treats.

She has been spayed and microchipped under the ID number 106252.

She was last seen on Monday, February 16 at approximately 7am in the Higher Folds area of Leigh.

Despite advice from doctors to avoid stress and physical exertion, Darren has been left with no choice but to search for the missing pet, putting his own health at risk.

He said: "I've been out searching non-stop, in pouring rain and cold weather, walking up hills, along canals, through woods and housing estates.

"My recent cancer surgery means I'm not supposed to be doing any of this. I've even started bleeding slightly through my stitches due to the strenuous exercise and immense stress. I truly don't normally ask for sympathy, but I am at my absolute breaking point. I need Cora found, not just for her sake, but so I can properly recover."

Posters have been placed throughout Higher Folds, Leigh, surrounding areas and social media appeals have been widely shared.

Darren is now asking residents in the Higher Folds area of Leigh to check their gardens, sheds, garages or outbuildings, look under bushes, or any sheltered areas, and report any sightings immediately.

He added: "Cora is quite the character and has a very strong homing instinct. She lived with a lovely older lady for some years and then, after that lady sadly passed, we tried to rehome her with a friend.

"However, it seems her heart is set on returning to the Ince area of Wigan, where she spent her first six years.

"She didn't go missing from my home, but once she's found, she will be coming back to me permanently,

"We are committed to giving her a safe, loving, and permanent home. What I desperately need now is for the community to be my eyes and ears, to allow me to rest and heal, and to get Cora into a safe, warm environment where she belongs."
