THE Met Office has predicted a mostly dry and cool weekend for Leigh, following a damp Friday.

On Friday morning, Leigh begins the day overcast and cool, with early temperatures at approximately 6C and feeling like 3–4C due to a light breeze.

Light rain is expected through the morning until around 11am, with an 80 per cent chance of this at 6am, falling to below 10 per cent by lunchtime.

The rest of Friday should remain dry, although the grey clouds will persist, preventing temperatures from getting any higher than 9C during the afternoon.

Into the afternoon, the risk of rain should drop to below 10 per cent.

Temperatures will then drop to between 3C and 5C overnight, with thick cloud above.

For the weekend, the Met Office said despite limited sunshine on Friday, residents in Leigh can expect brighter intervals on Saturday and Sunday.

On Saturday, Leigh will wake up to colder temperatures expected to be around 4C to 5C, before the town sees sunnier intervals developing early in the morning and lasting most of the day.

In the afternoon temperatures are set to climb back up to around 11C, with conditions set to be pleasant for outdoor events especially during the late morning and afternoon.

There is only a 10 per cent chance of a light shower in the evening, with winds remaining light, generally 4–6mph.

Sunday will be the warmest day of the weekend, with temperatures reaching 14C.

There is a chance of low mist or cloud early on in the morning when the temperature stands at 7C.

Again, long periods of sunshine are predicted, with any lingering mist expected to lift leaving a chance of sunshine with only a 10 per cent to 20 per cent chance of rain.

Into the afternoon, temperatures will reach 14C and will remain feeling nice in the sun, although there will be moderate south westerly breezes at around 8mph.

The Met Office has said any showers anticipated will be light and brief if they occur at all.

Over the course of the weekend, temperatures will remain cool, with daily highs from 9C to 14C and lows in the night from 3C to 7C.

Light to moderate south-westerly winds are anticipated across the weekend.
