A family day of cycling fun is returning.

Cycle Three Sisters will take place at the Three Sisters Circuit in Ashton-in-Makerfield on Wednesday, May 6, and Tuesday, August 4, 2026.

Organised by Wigan Council’s Be Well leisure and wellbeing service, the free biannual event offers a day of cycling activities for all ages and abilities, both on and off the track.

Councillor Chris Ready, Wigan Council’s cabinet portfolio holder for communities and neighbourhoods, said: "We know how much residents love Cycle Three Sisters so we’re really excited to announce the event’s return for 2026.

"It’s always fantastic to see so many families having fun cycling together, and so many kids learning to ride and growing their confidence on two wheels.

"But the best thing about Cycle Three Sisters – apart from it being completely free – is that it’s truly inclusive, with bikes and helmets available to borrow for free and Wheels For All adapted cycles so everyone has the chance to get involved.

"It truly is an unmissable occasion, so make sure to save the date and come along for a ‘wheely’ good time."

Around 1,000 people are expected to attend each event.

Activities are set to begin at 3pm, with the track opening earlier from 1.30pm for balance bikes, bikes with stabilisers, and adapted bikes—a session designed for young children requiring adult supervision.

Balance bikes and bikes with stabilisers will not be permitted on the main track after 3pm, but dedicated areas will remain available until the event ends at 8pm.

Visitors are encouraged to bring their own bikes and helmets if possible, though equipment will be available to borrow on the day.

Free parking will be available on site, but families are encouraged to walk or cycle to the event where possible.

Full event details and track rules can be found at bewellwigan.org/cyclethreesisters.
