A family event will return to help connect people with vital services.

Local Offer Live, taking place in the borough, is designed to support families and young people, with a focus on those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

It will be held at the Progress With Unity Stadium, Leigh Sports Village, and will feature a marketplace of services, workshops, and opportunities to speak directly with professionals.

Councillor Dane Anderton, cabinet portfolio holder for children and families, said: "This event is a fantastic opportunity for families to speak directly with professionals in one place with teams from the council, NHS, social care, mental health support, local charities, and many more.

"By bringing everyone together, in this marketplace-style event, we hope to open the doors and make it easier for parents, carers, and young people with SEND to find out what is on offer."

The event will take place on Monday, April 27 and is free to attend.

Two sessions will run from 10am to 2.30pm and 3.30pm to 6.30pm at the Leigh Sports Village Arena.

Visitors can drop in at any time, and a quiet space will be available throughout the day.

Workshops will also be held during the event, offering families practical information on key SEND topics.

Further details will be published in the coming weeks at wigan.gov.uk/localoffer.

Councillor Anderton said: "Working together with families is central to how we shape SEND services in Wigan Borough and we are committed to making our Local Offer accessible, meaningful, and shaped by the people who use it.

"The team have been working with parents, carers, young people and the Wigan Borough Parent Carer Forum to make this year’s event bigger and better than ever, and to make sure it really delivers on what is important for local families."
