This week’s pub offers pints as low as two pounds and is thriving a year into its new landlady’s ownership.

Corrinne Lythgoe took over the Victoria in Westhoughton 15 months ago and said it’s been “brilliant” so far.

The 43-year-old from Halliwell said that customers praise the pub’s “warm welcome” but that it’s the “little things” that make them stand out.

The pub is even offering two pound pints on selected drinks at the moment so we spoke to Corrinne to find out what makes this pub so special.

How long have you been at the Victoria?

"I’ve been in the Victoria pub for about 15 months now running it. It’s been brilliant, customers are always saying what a warm welcome they get and that they feel like part of a family."

How long have you been in hospitality?

"Three years in the pub trade – I worked in the Lord Raglan on Halliwell Road before I was offered this by my boss.

"They had no one for the Victoria and I said I would take it on."

"It’s the little things that make it stand out – we have two pound pints at the moment on Foster’s, John Smiths, Strongbow and Carlsberg.

"We’ve got the sports on and we’ve got karaoke from Wednesday to Friday and a DJ on the weekend."

Current draft selection:

What's the best part about running a pub?

"Seeing new faces and meeting new people – just having a laugh and a joke with the customers.

"Just customers coming up to me and telling me how well I’m doing at the pub they’re like part of the family coming up to me daily new customers."

What's the worst part?

"There’s no worst part – I’m used to the late nights."

What are your plans for the future?

"Just continuing to build Victoria up even more."
