THE Met Office has forecast a mixed bag of weather for Leigh over the weekend, with the best conditions expected on Friday.

Friday, April 10, is set to be the brightest and driest day, with sunny intervals and a low chance of rain.

Daytime temperatures will reach around 12–13C, dropping to about 6C overnight.

A moderate southerly breeze will make it feel slightly cooler, but it will be pleasant in the sunshine.

The risk of rain remains low for much of the day, with probabilities mostly below 10 per cent through the morning and early afternoon, only rising to around 30 per cent by late afternoon and early evening.

Any showers are expected to be brief and light.

Saturday, April 11, will start wet and windy, but conditions are expected to improve later in the day.

Daytime temperatures will peak at around 11C, dipping to about 5C overnight into Sunday.

Rain chances are very high first thing, around 80–90 per cent at 6–7am, easing gradually to 50–60 per cent late morning and falling towards 20 per cent or lower by mid-afternoon and evening as showers become more scattered.

Southerly winds will strengthen during the morning, typically 15–20mph with gusts pushing into the mid-30s mph at times, especially around any heavier bursts of rain.

Winds will ease a little later in the day.

Sunday, April 12, will be the coolest day, with a mix of cloud, brief brighter intervals, and frequent showers.

Daytime highs will be near 13C with a minimum around 4C overnight.

Showers are expected on and off for much of the day.

Rain probabilities are around 30 per cent in the early morning, rising to 50–70 per cent from late morning through mid-afternoon, then gradually easing back to about 30 per cent into the evening and overnight.

Winds will generally be from the south or southwest at 10–15mph, with gusts close to 30mph during heavier showers.

The Met Office has advised that pollen levels will be very high on Friday, so hay fever sufferers may notice symptoms despite the otherwise decent conditions.

Pollen levels are forecast to be moderate on Saturday and Sunday.

Visibility is generally good but will drop temporarily in heavier showers.

Overall, Friday looks to be the best day for outdoor plans, with long dry spells and sunny intervals.

Saturday and Sunday will be more unsettled, with showers and breezy conditions expected.
