FOR many of us, there’s nothing better than a weekend walk with our four-legged friend, followed by a refreshing pint and maybe a bite to eat.

But not all pubs are dog-friendly, so it’s important to check before you head out if your precious pooch will be able to sit with you as you enjoy a well-deserved rest.

Here, we’ve put together a list of some of the best dog-friendly boozers in and around Leigh.

Have we missed any off? Let us know in the comments below.

The Nevison Country Inn

The Nevison Country Inn is a classic, rustic country pub on the outskirts of Leigh, ideal if you like to combine a walk with a relaxed drink and bite to eat.

Just a few minutes’ stroll from the Leeds–Liverpool Canal, Pennington Flash, and the local marina, it’s perfectly placed for muddy-pawed visitors coming straight off the towpath or nearby nature reserve trails.

Inside, you’ll find a warm, traditional feel with a friendly, locals’ atmosphere, while outside, there’s space for dogs to settle while you enjoy a pint or meal.

The Nevison Country Inn can be found at 96b Plank Lane, Leigh, Greater Manchester, WN7 4QE.

Inside, it has a modern, relaxed dining feel with a menu of pub classics and cocktails, but it still works just as well for a casual drink after a lap of the nearby towpaths.

The Waterside Inn can be found at Canal Street, Leigh, WN7 4DB.

Robin Hood
