A CRICKET club is set to host its biggest-ever event with a new tribute festival.

Highfield Cricket Club in Wigan will welcome more than 2,500 people for the premiere of Summer Sounds Festival, a full-day tribute music event taking place on Saturday, June 27, as part of its Summer Series 2026.

The festival will run from 1pm to 9.30pm and is the first time the club will convert its 13,000 sq m grounds into a large-scale music venue.

Michael Gregory, chairman of Highfield Cricket Club, said: "Summer Sounds is an exciting new chapter for Highfield.

"It builds on our long history of community events while creating something new for adult audiences, with all proceeds supporting grassroots sport and opportunities for young people locally."

The main stage will be headlined by Deffo Maybe, fronted by Ian Gallagher, who is described as one of the 'most authentic Oasis tribute performers' in the UK.

He has toured internationally and performed alongside Kasabian, Pete Doherty, Reverend and the Makers, and Status Quo.

Other top tribute acts include ABBA Alike and Manchester’s Take Off That, with dedicated tributes to Robbie Williams, George Michael, and Blondie also on the bill.

The event will also feature an outdoor bar, street food vendors, and private gazebo pitches.

Summer Sounds is part of the wider Summer Series at Highfield, which also includes the club’s long-running Family Fun Day, returning on Sunday, August 30.

The Family Fun Day, now in its fourth decade, saw more than 2,500 visitors last year and features fairground rides, inflatables, live entertainment, and family themed activities.

Organisers expect the two Summer Series events to draw more than 5,000 people to the club over the season.

A limited number of standard tickets remain for Summer Sounds, priced at £30, with payment via Klarna available.
