A CARE village has celebrated 15 years of supporting older people with a day of festivities and reflection.
Belong Atherton, located on Mealhouse Lane, marked the anniversary with a special celebration, bringing together residents, staff, and community care customers.
The event began with a celebratory breakfast and continued throughout the day, featuring music, dancing and entertainment from local singer Joe Parker.
Nicola Johnstone, general manager at Belong Atherton, said: "We’ve raised our glasses to an incredible milestone, 15 years making a real difference in people’s lives.
"There have been so many wonderful memories created over the years, and it goes to show there is everything to look forward to and embrace in older life when you’re part of a caring community like ours."
Belong Atherton first opened in 2011 and introduced the not-for-profit operator’s 'village living' model to the area.
Since then, it has supported hundreds of older people to remain active and independent in later life.
The care village operates with an open-door policy, welcoming the public to its bistro, gym, salon, and entertainment venue.
Ms Johnstone said: "We are really proud to be part of this community and a special shout out goes to our colleagues, many of whom have been with us since we opened.
"Our village is the result of what they’ve made it, and it really is testament to their hard work and passion for what they do."
Belong Atherton is among the top two per cent of adult social care services in the country and currently holds an 'Outstanding' rating from the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
The site also earned a place in the UK’s top 100 care homes at the inaugural Lottie Awards 2025 and Belong was named among the Top 20 Mid-size Care Home Groups 2026 by Carehome.co.uk.
The anniversary follows similar 15th birthday celebrations at Belong’s Wigan, Crewe, and Macclesfield villages.
Other locations are expected to mark their own milestones in the coming years.
Belong’s ninth village is set to open in Birkdale, Southport, in 2026.
