A WARM, dry and sunny weekend is on the way for Leigh.

Friday will be sunny from morning to evening, with a maximum temperature of around 20C, dropping to about 6C overnight.

The risk of rain remains below 5 per cent all day, and winds will be light, generally from the south to south-west at about 3–5mph, with maximum gusts around 14mph.

Clear skies will persist into the evening and night, providing a good opportunity for outdoor activities.

However, very high pollen levels could be a concern for hay fever sufferers.

Saturday will be another dry and sunny day, with long spells of unbroken sunshine.

The temperature will rise slightly, with a daytime maximum of around 21C and a night-time minimum close to 7C.

Rain chances will remain below 5 per cent at all times.

Winds will stay very light, mostly southerly at 2–6mph, with gusts up to about 22mph later.

Clear skies will dominate, making it another excellent day for outdoor events.

Pollen levels will again be very high, so allergy sufferers may experience symptoms.

Sunday will be mostly sunny for much of the day, with a little fair-weather cloud developing later.

Temperatures will peak around 19C by the afternoon, with an overnight minimum near 8C.

The day will stay essentially dry, with rain chances generally below 5 per cent, only increasing to around 10 per cent late in the evening and into the early hours of Monday.

A gentle south to south-westerly breeze of about 5–8mph is expected, with gusts up to roughly 20mph.

Sunshine will be widespread from morning into mid-afternoon, providing the best window for outdoor plans, with just a bit more cloud later on.

Pollen levels will be high rather than very high.

Overall, the weekend will be warm for late April, with temperatures peaking around 20–21C on Friday and Saturday before slightly decreasing to about 19C on Sunday.

Nights will remain cool but not cold at 6–8C.

The entire weekend looks predominantly dry, with the lowest rain chances on Friday and Saturday and only a small increase late on Sunday night.

Winds will stay light throughout, with the "windiest" period being Saturday evening into Sunday when gusts may reach around 20–22mph.

Overall, it will be an excellent few days for outdoor events, sport, and travel, with strong sunshine and largely clear skies.

However, very high to high pollen levels could cause problems for those with hay fever, and clear skies overnight may lead to some chilly late-evening conditions despite the warm days.
