THE Met Office has forecast a mostly dry but cool weekend for Leigh, with sunny intervals and showers likely later on Sunday.

Friday will be bright with sunny intervals and just the odd light shower.

Daytime temperatures will reach around 13C, dropping to about 5C overnight.

Rainfall risk stays low, generally below 10 per cent through the day, increasing to around 20 per cent later in the evening and 30 per cent by the early hours of Saturday.

Winds will be mainly from the north to north-east at about 10–13mph in the afternoon and evening, with a maximum gust near 26mph early in the day.

Saturday will see sunny spells with a small chance of evening rain.

Afternoon temperatures will reach about 14C, with a night-time minimum near 8C.

Rain chances will mostly sit around 10–20 per cent, rising towards 40–50 per cent from about 7–9pm and up to around 60 per cent later at night as patchier rain moves in.

Winds will be light south to south-westerly, mostly 4–9mph, with gusts up to about 18mph.

Sunday will be cooler with scattered light showers.

Daytime highs will again be around 14C, falling to roughly 7C overnight.

Rain chances will be higher than Saturday, around 60–70 per cent through the morning, easing back towards 30–40 per cent into the afternoon and evening as showers become more scattered.

Winds will stay generally south-westerly at about 9–11mph with gusts up to around 22mph.

The wettest periods are most likely later on Saturday evening into the early hours of Sunday and again during Sunday morning, while Friday looks the driest day overall.

Winds will remain light to moderate throughout but may freshen a little on Sunday with gusts into the low-20s mph.

Outdoor plans on Friday and for much of Saturday should fare well with long dry spells and bright skies, though those out later on Saturday or Sunday should be prepared for showers and slightly damp roads from heavier bursts.

Pollen levels are indicated as low across the weekend and visibility should generally be good, reducing briefly in any heavier showers.
