THE Met Office has forecast warm, settled, and increasingly hot weather for Leigh over the bank holiday weekend.
Friday will be warm and dry, with plenty of sunshine and some fair-weather cloud.
Temperatures are expected to reach around 23C, dropping to about 12C overnight.
Winds will be light, coming from a south to south-easterly direction at about 7–11mph.
The Met Office predicts a less than 10 per cent chance of rain throughout the day and evening, so showers are unlikely.
Saturday will continue the settled theme with a sunny day and mostly clear skies.
Afternoon temperatures are forecast to peak near 22C, with a cooler night down to around 11C.
Light southerly breezes of roughly 5–9mph are expected.
The risk of rain remains very low, around 20 per cent at worst overnight.
The Met Office charts show sunshine for much of the daytime, providing a good opportunity for outdoor plans from late morning onwards.
Sunday will be very warm, sunny, and dry.
Temperatures are forecast to climb to about 24C by the afternoon, with a night-time minimum close to 13C.
Winds will remain light, generally southerly at about 3–7mph.
The Met Office keeps rain chances below about 5 per cent all day, and skies look mostly cloud-free.
Bank holiday Monday is expected to be the hottest day of the spell with unbroken sunshine.
Afternoon highs are expected to reach around 25C, with overnight temperatures again close to 13C.
Light south or south-easterly winds of roughly 3–9mph are forecast.
Rain chances remain below about 5 per cent from morning to evening in the Met Office forecast.
Pollen is flagged as low.
Over the weekend, temperatures in Leigh will rise from warm on Friday and Saturday to very warm, locally hot, by Sunday and especially bank holiday Monday.
The Met Office shows a consistently dry picture through the whole period, with only very small chances of a shower at any point and no organised rain bands, so the entire long weekend looks dry.
Winds will stay light throughout, so there are no concerns about strong gusts, and the sun will feel strong given the clear skies.
For outdoor events and travel, the main issues are likely to be heat and sunshine rather than rain or wind, so organisers should plan for shade, hydration, and sun protection rather than wet-weather contingencies.
