THE Met Office has forecast a warm, sunny weekend for Leigh, with a cooler, showery turn on Sunday.

Friday will see sunny intervals, with temperatures reaching a high of around 21C, dropping to a cooler 11C at night.

A light south to south-easterly breeze will keep things pleasant, with speeds mostly around 10–13mph and gusts up to about 25mph.

The risk of rain is very low, staying below 5 per cent all day, making it a good day for outdoor plans from late morning onwards.

Saturday will be warmer, with temperatures climbing to about 23C by mid-afternoon, and an overnight minimum near 14C.

Winds will stay light, generally 3–10mph from a southerly to south-westerly direction.

Rain chances will stay under 5 per cent for most of the day, only increasing to around 10–20 per cent late afternoon and evening, and around 30–40 per cent by late evening and towards midnight as cloud increases.

Long spells of sunshine are expected through the morning and afternoon, with just a little cloud building later.

Sunday will be cooler, with showers developing.

The daytime high will be near 18C, with a milder night around 13C.

South-westerly winds will freshen slightly through the day, generally 8–14mph with gusts up to about 27mph at times, especially near showers.

Rain chances are higher, around 30–60 per cent through the morning and into early afternoon, easing back to about 20–30 per cent later in the day and into the evening.

Expect sunny intervals mixed with cloud and passing showers; any drier, brighter slots look more likely later in the afternoon and early evening for outdoor plans.

Overall, the weekend will start warm on Friday and peak on Saturday, before dipping back closer to the mid-teens on Sunday.

The driest and brightest conditions are on Friday and especially Saturday, while Sunday brings the wettest spells with showers more frequent through the morning and early afternoon.

Pollen levels are indicated as low throughout the period, and visibility should stay generally good outside any heavier showers on Sunday.
