A CREMATORIUM is inviting people to remember fathers and father-figures at a special service in the days leading up to Father’s Day.
Howe Bridge Crematorium will hold the memorial event on Wednesday, June 17, at 6.30pm.
The free service will be led by Father Norman Price and is open to anyone who is missing a dad, father-figure, or has experienced bereavement as a father.
Lindsey Edwardson, manager at Howe Bridge Crematorium, said: "Over the Father’s Day period, we are holding in our thoughts all those missing their father, a father-figure and fathers who are bereaved of a child.
"They are all warmly welcome to join us on 17 June for our special Father’s Day memorial service.
"We understand that comfort means different things to different people, and we are here to support you in whatever way feels right."
Attendees are asked to book their place in advance by calling 01942 870811 or emailing howebridge@westerleighgroup.co.uk.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to leave Father’s Day cards, handwritten messages, or other personal tributes in the crematorium’s Letters to Loved Ones post box.
Ms Edwardson said: "We also know that the bereaved can take great comfort from posting personal messages in our white memorial post box, which helps them maintain a feeling of connection with those they have lost.
"Father’s Day is one of those annual occasions when a loss can be felt more and we want to ensure people know that they are very welcome to take comfort in paying tribute to their loved ones at our crematorium."
The invitation is open to everyone, regardless of whether their loved one’s funeral took place at Howe Bridge, and even if the loss was many years ago.
Howe Bridge Crematorium is part of Westerleigh Group, one of the UK’s largest independent owners and operators of crematoria and cemeteries, with 42 sites in England, Scotland and Wales.
The Father’s Day event is part of its commitment to providing “exceptional care and support” within peaceful garden settings.
