SAFETY improvements are sought at a ‘dangerous’ roundabout where pedestrians ‘take their lives into their own hands’.
Leigh and Atherton MP Jo Platt recently visited Greyhound Roundabout, on the A580 East Lancashire Road near Glazebury.
It comes as residents call for improvements to be made to allow people on foot or bicycles to cross more safely to visit the garage shop or Bents garden centre.
The MP described the crossing as ‘awful, dangerous, and precarious’ for pedestrians, even in non-rush hour traffic.
She says that she will continue to push for improvements to be made to boost safety.
Ms Platt commented: “Many residents have long been campaigning for a crossing at Greyhound Roundabout, and I completely share their concerns.

“I visited the roundabout again this week and, once again, it showed just how dangerous it is.
“It is clear why so many people do not attempt to cross, but that means many pedestrians are effectively cut off from places like Bents Garden and Home other local businesses and neighbouring towns, because crossing the road simply is not safe.
“I will continue pushing until we get this crossing delivered.”
