DAME Judi Dench has helped to launch a new cinema scheme.
Leigh Film Factory has launched Silver Screen at the Factory, a free membership scheme giving over-60s the chance to enjoy monthly cinema outings.
The scheme is funded by a generous donation from Dame Judi Dench.
The membership includes a free ticket to a selected Sunday screening each month, with films chosen from the cinema’s current programme.
This means members can enjoy recent releases in a standard public screening, allowing them to attend with friends and family.
Kevin Lowe from Leigh Film Factory said: "Cinema is about more than just watching a film — it’s about coming together, sharing experiences and being part of a community.
"We wanted to create a scheme that helps more people enjoy everything that Leigh Film Factory has to offer, and we are incredibly grateful to Dame Judi Dench for making this possible.
"Her generosity will have a real impact, helping older residents enjoy the magic of cinema while also encouraging connection and social engagement."
Leigh Film Factory is an independent, volunteer-run cinema focused on delivering affordable and inclusive film experiences for the community.
The new scheme aims to remove barriers to cinema for older residents, offering not just entertainment but a reason to get out and connect with others.
The first Silver Screen at the Factory screening will be Sunny Dancer, showing on Sunday, September 13.
Unlike traditional senior cinema clubs, the scheme does not separate its audience, with members able to enjoy the film as part of the wider community.
Each member will receive a Silver Screen membership card and can redeem one free ticket per month.
The Leigh Film Factory team believes the initiative supports its vision of cinema as a space for social opportunity and shared experience.
Residents interested in joining the scheme or finding out more can email enquiries@leighfilmfactory.com.

The scheme begins in September and is open to anyone aged 60 and over.
