FAMILIES are in for a treat as a shopping centre launches a jam-packed summer of free activities.

Spinning Gate Shopping Centre is hosting a programme of events, giveaways, and interactive experiences to round off the school holidays.

The fun begins on Friday, August 21, with complimentary popcorn and candyfloss for visitors.

Karen Cox, centre manager at Spinning Gate, said: "We love providing lots of free mini smile moments for the little ones and their families to enjoy during the school holidays.

"Our children’s book giveaways are really popular with families who find the books we hide, taking them home to read and enjoy and re-hide for others to find.

"We always receive lovely feedback via social media when families find the books we hide."

On Saturday, August 22, families can get creative on the centre’s digital graffiti wall.

The following Friday, August 28, will see the return of the centre’s giant summer games area.

To finish the summer in style, on the Saturday of the bank holiday weekend, families can take part in the Gold Bar Challenge for a chance to win prizes.

She said: "Entertaining the little ones during the 6 weeks of holidays can be challenging and costly, so, we can’t wait to provide more family fun with our free events and attractions: from scribbling and getting creative on our graffiti wall, our free popcorn and candy floss, our giant summer games area and our gold bar challenge

"We have something for everyone this summer here at Spinning Gate and we look forward to providing lots more smiles this summer!"

This year, the centre has also hidden hundreds of mini goodie bags for children to find, filled with games, puzzles, and colouring activities.

Spinning Gate is currently 95 per cent occupied, with 37 units in use across its 110,000 sq ft site.

The centre has reported weekend footfall growth of up to 40 per cent and says it continues to outperform comparable shopping centres.

Ms Cox said the team is proud of the centre’s performance and is focused on continuing to deliver value and enjoyment for the community.
