THE Met Office has forecast a mainly dry and pleasant weekend for Leigh, with sunny intervals and rising temperatures.
Friday will start bright with sunny intervals and light winds, but showers are expected to develop in the afternoon.
Temperatures will reach 18C during the day, dropping to around 9C overnight.
Rain chances will increase from below 5 per cent in the morning to 60-70 per cent between 3pm and 6pm, before decreasing again in the evening.
Winds will be light, starting at 2-4mph in the morning and increasing to 6-7mph in the afternoon, with maximum gusts of around 18mph.
Saturday is expected to be the best day of the weekend, with plenty of sunshine and little rain.
Daytime temperatures will reach around 19C, with overnight lows near 9C.
Rain probabilities will be 10-20 per cent in the morning, dropping to below 5 per cent from mid-afternoon onwards.
Winds will remain light, generally 2-5mph in the morning, increasing to 7-9mph in the afternoon, with maximum gusts around 20mph.
Sunny intervals will dominate throughout the day, with skies becoming increasingly clear by late afternoon and evening.
Sunday will bring another settled day with sunny intervals and a very small chance of a passing shower.
Temperatures are forecast to reach 19C during the afternoon, with overnight values dipping to around 10C.
There is a slight chance of showers during the early morning, with rainfall probabilities around 20 per cent between 6am and 10am, before dropping to 10 per cent or less, and then below 5 per cent through the afternoon and evening.
Winds will remain light throughout, generally 2-5mph, with maximum gusts of around 16mph.
Sunny intervals will continue through the day with variable cloud, particularly favourable during the afternoon.
Overall, Leigh can expect a largely settled and pleasant August weekend, with Friday's afternoon showers giving way to two increasingly sunny and mostly dry days.
The Met Office forecast indicates low pollen levels throughout the period, and visibility should generally be good, becoming briefly reduced in any heavier Friday showers.
