A MIXED Bank Holiday weekend is on the cards for Leigh, with a wet start on Friday.
Friday will begin with light showers and some heavier bursts of rain possible through the morning.
Temperatures will reach 20C during the day before falling to around 15C overnight.
Rain chances are high through the morning, generally around 70-80 per cent between 6am and lunchtime, before gradually easing through the afternoon.
By late afternoon and evening, the chance of rain drops to 20 per cent or lower, allowing for some brighter spells.
Winds will be light to moderate, mainly around 3-11mph, with gusts up to 25mph.
Cloud will dominate early on, but sunshine should become more frequent later in the day.
The best window for outdoor plans looks to be mid-afternoon onwards, when showers become increasingly isolated.
Saturday looks set to be the wettest day of the weekend.
Daytime temperatures will reach 20C, with an overnight low of about 15C.
Rain probabilities start around 30-50 per cent during the morning but quickly increase, reaching 70-90 per cent from late morning through much of the afternoon, before gradually easing during the evening.
Winds remain relatively light at around 3-7mph, with gusts up to 19mph.
The day will be largely cloudy, with only limited brighter breaks.
Outdoor plans are likely to face disruption, particularly from late morning until late afternoon, when rain is most widespread.
Sunday brings an improvement, although not a completely dry day.
Temperatures will peak at 21C, making it the warmest day of the weekend, before dropping to around 14C overnight.
Rain chances are generally lower than Saturday, sitting around 30-40 per cent through much of the morning, rising to 50-60 per cent later in the afternoon and evening as scattered showers develop.
Winds remain light at around 5-7mph, with gusts up to 20mph.
There should be a good deal of cloud around but also some sunny intervals, especially through the middle part of the day.
For outdoor activities, the best conditions are likely from late morning into early afternoon, before shower chances increase later.
Bank Holiday Monday is currently forecast to be the pick of the long weekend, with sunny intervals and highs of around 19C, although there remains a 30-60 per cent chance of a few light showers, especially during the morning.
