O2 customers in Leigh are experiencing intermittent problems with their mobile service after "repeated arson attacks" on a local mast.

The network provider has apologised to customers affected by the disruption and says work is underway to restore services.

An O2 spokesperson said: “We’re aware some customers in the Leigh area may be experiencing intermittent issues with their mobile service and we apologise for any inconvenience caused.

“This is due to repeated arson attacks on a mast in the local area. We’re working with our infrastructure partner, who manages sites in the area, to restore service as quickly possible.

“In the meantime, we recommend customers enable Wi-Fi calling on their devices, allowing them to make and receive calls and texts over any broadband network.”

The company has not said how many customers have been affected or when services are expected to return to normal.
