THE Chippy Tour, founded by author and food reviewer Stephen Peel, has become a recognised independent voice in Britain's fish and chip industry.
Having visited and reviewed more than 260 chippies nationwide, Stephen champions traditional fish and chip shops through honest, incognito reviews.
His dedication has earned him national media attention, invitations to judge prestigious industry awards, and guest speaking slots at industry events.

Through his growing YouTube channel and social media following, Stephen continues to promote Britain's favourite takeaway while supporting the hardworking businesses behind it.
Stephen visited Atherton Fish and Chips on October 14, and this is what he had to say.
Visiting Atherton Fish and Chips reminded me how many chippies want to preserve the traditional fish and chip shops so many of us grew up with, beef dripping and all.

On entering the shop, it was clear it was spotlessly clean and tidy, and the staff were warm and friendly.
I ordered the large haddock and chips, though cod was also on offer, along with mushy peas, free scraps, a lightly spiced Irish curry sauce and gravy.
My wife had the small cod and chips, which wasn’t all that small, and she said it was delicious.

The haddock was plentiful, coated in a lovely, light, crispy batter with a real crunch, while the chips were thick, crispy around the edges, and just the right consistency inside.
I’m quite particular about my mushy peas, and these were right up my street.
They were thick, subtly seasoned, and had a lovely, gentle colour.

The curry sauce was thick and smooth, complementing the fish perfectly.
As for the gravy, it had that beefiness you’d expect from a quality gravy.
