A LORRY driver has been injured after an HGV overturned in Wigan, prompting road closures.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) confirmed the crash happened on Caroline Street at around 11.55am today (Wednesday, November 4).

The incident involved an overturned lorry, with the driver suffering injuries which police have confirmed are not life-threatening.

Officers attended the scene, with road closures introduced on Chapel Lane in both directions.

Access to Caroline Street and surrounding streets remains restricted, although traffic can still pass along Chapel Lane towards Westwood Way and Wigan town centre.

GMP confirmed the roads will remain closed until council workers have finished clearing up following the crash.

No arrests have been made.

Motorists are being advised to find alternative routes to avoid delays and congestion.
