THE Leigh and district branch of Soroptimist International are supporting a battle to clear landmines in Afghanistan, Members are backing Landmine Action Week (November 1 to 7) by organising a fund raising coffee morning in Leigh Parish Church Vestry on Saturday, Nov 1.
They hope to raise awareness and cash for the No More Landmines Trust and are inviting shoppers to take a break with them to help the worthwhile cause.
Every £1 raised will clear one square metre of mined land in the most heavily landmined country in the world.
Anyone who is unable to attend but would like to make a donation direct can do so on-line at www.landmines.org.uk or by post to The No More Landmines Trust, The Kensington Charity Centre, 4th Floor, Charles House, 375 Kensington High Street London W14 8QH.
