VILLAGERS are spreading the word to draw people back to church Worshippers at Heath Street Methodist Church, Golborne has arranged a series of events leading up to National Back to Church Sunday on September 27.

They have organised a taster week with a quiz night and club night planned.

Spokesman Howard Quinn said: “This gives people the chance to see if they feel comfortable and if this is the place for them, in addition to show we also like to have a good time in social settings.”

During the taster week, starting on September 21, activities will include coffee mornings will welcome visitors to have a look round the church from Monday to Friday and on Thursday (24th) from 7pm to 9pm there's an informal hour followed by a question and answer session.

These could dispel some of the old myths like Methodists don’t drink.

Howard said: “Some do and some don’t - so join those who do for a pint after the meeting!! There is no hard and fast rule.

“And just to show we also like to have a good time how about joining us for a good night out.”
