A TEAM made up of friends of tragic footballer Craig Hardman will play a match in his memory next week.

A Lowton Elect team of former team mates from the Church Inn, Asda Golborne and Lowton Toby will take on a Golborne Sports squad in a charity fundraiser for the Craig Hardman Memorial Trophy in aid of Breast Cancer Research.

Multi trophy winner Craig, 25, of Egerton Road, Lowton, died suddenly on July 7 last year and his 36-years-old sister Jacqueline is now undergoing treatment for breast cancer at Wigan.”

Match organiser David Woods said: “I know Craig would have been proud to support the event.”

”Craig won many trophies during his time playing football. He was revered by all and surely would be proud of friends taking part in his honour.”

Players on the list to take part include Brian Edwards, Steve Evans, Ian McMillan, Keith Gibson, Kenny Crowther, Danny Bell, Matthew Hughes, John Burgess, Steve Dando, Ryan Jones, Graham MacLeish, Scott Walker, Darren Calland, Stephen Whalley, Michael Burns, Gary Crowther, Craig Shakespeare, John Woods, Steven Waywell, Steve Birchall and Peter Connelly.

The match will kick off at 2pm at Golborne Sports Club on May 22.

The subscription fee to take part in the game is £5 and there is an entrance fee of £1.
