LEGENDARY Rugby League winger Des Drummond was at Leigh Sports Village Stadium for the meeting of his old clubs.
Drummond, who starred for both Leigh and Warrington during the 1970s and 80s - his £50 signing-on fee being probably Leigh's best ever bargain - was guest of honour at the pre-season match between the Centurions and the Wolves.
Former Hilton Park team-mate Allan Rowley, now chief executive at Leigh Centurions, said: “I played in the same team as Des in the 70s and remember him signing for Leigh. He has been a great ambassador for the game amassing 24 Great Britain caps. He was a superb all round athlete, shown by his tremendous achievements on the pitch and in the televised Superstars competition. Despite his legendary status, he is a genuine guy who has kept his feet on the ground and always seems to make time for anyone.”
