PizzaExpress has added a vegan item to its menu this week.

If you’ve missed out on eating its popular garlic butter, you won’t need to anymore because you can get your hands on a plant-based version.

It’s time to grab some Dough Balls or reach for your pizza crusts and get dipping this Veganuary.

The launch of the vegan garlic butter also saw a fountain of more than 2kg of it make an appearance at PizzaExpress’ first ever vegan-only restaurant located in Aldwych, London – that’d be enough to smother 100 Dough Balls.

Currently, the vegan garlic spread is exclusively available at the Aldwych pizzeria but from March you’ll be able to get your hands on it nationwide in more than 360 restaurants.

The vegan-only restaurant launched in autumn last year and serves plant-based dishes.

Jane Treasure, Food and Beverage Director at PizzaExpress, said: “With more and more people opting for vegan alternatives every year, we’re excited and proud to be able to announce the launch of our vegan garlic spread this Veganuary.

"Our pizzaiolos have been busy perfecting the recipe to ensure it’s every bit as good as the iconic original. This newest vegan option joins a range of other plant-based dishes on our menu, as we continue to innovate our food to ensure it is delicious and enjoyable for everyone.”
