Leigh 21 Aspatria 14
LEIGH came out on top in a hard-fought win against Aspatria in the North Lancs/Cumbria League on Saturday.
It took 15 minutes of sustained Leigh pressure before registering their first points with a Drake penalty, soon followed by the props combining well for Baker to put McCabe over for a converted try.
The visitors answered with two penalties, but Drake stroked over another to increase Leigh's lead and on the stroke of half time scrum half Woods burst through, sold a dummy and gave Duffy a clear run to the try line.
The visitors did manage a try, but after trading penalties Leigh held on for the win.
Tyldesley 8 Southport 14
TYLDESLEY fell short at the hands of Southport in the South Lancs/Cheshire Division Two clash on Saturday.
The sides shared penalties, with Southport taking a six-point advantage into the break. The visitors added a try after the interval before Molyneaux’s consolation.
