ASTLEY VIP Boxing Club hosted an ATSA Boxing taster session last week.
Children from St George’s Central, Sacred Heart, St Phillip’s and St Richard’s took part in the event, led by the club’s boxing coach Damian Jones.
The pupils enjoyed the surroundings of a professional boxing gym, while working on basic combinations, footwork activities and a range of different fitness tasks.
They were also treated to watching professional boxer Tommy Coyle train with coach and Sky Sports commentator Jamie Moore.
Coyle will be fighting in two weeks against former two-time WBO interim lightweight titleholder Michael Katsidas.
Astley VIP Boxing coach Jones said: “We’re always happy to see young people come to the gym and learn about boxing and would like to encourage local children aged 10, 11 and 12-years-old to come down to the club on Monday, Wednesday and Friday’s at 6pm – the first session is free.”
